Headlines suggesting that a woman’s breast size reveals something about her vagina are common online, particularly in sensational social-media posts designed to attract clicks.
But the biological claim behind such headlines is generally unsupported.
Breast size and the anatomy of the vagina are influenced by different biological factors. While hormones can influence both breasts and reproductive tissues, there is no reliable rule that allows someone to determine the size, shape, tightness, or other characteristics of a woman’s vagina simply by looking at her breasts.
This is an important distinction because physical appearance is often used to create myths about women’s bodies.
Breast development is influenced by genetics, hormones, body composition, age, pregnancy, breastfeeding, medications, and changes in weight. Estrogen and other hormones play important roles in breast development, particularly during puberty and throughout reproductive life.
Breasts also naturally vary enormously from one woman to another.
